Minecraft Coming To PS4, Xbox One & PS Vita This August

Today was a good day for Minecraft fans, as Mojang has announced that the PS4, Xbox One and PS Vita versions of the game will be released digitally this August in North America.

Here’s what you need to know about each version:

Minecraft On Xbox One

  • Sports notably-bigger worlds with a greater draw distance.
  • Includes all the features from the most recent Xbox 360 title update.
  • Costs $19.99 as a standalone title.
  • A $4.99 upgrade option exists for those who own the Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition for up to one year after the Xbox One release.
  • Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition saves can be imported to Xbox One, but not the other way around due to hardware limitations.
  • Only some of the DLC skins purchased for Xbox 360 Edition will be available for use in the Xbox One Edition. Liscensing issues prevent all of them from receiving transfer support.

Minecraft On PS4

  • Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition will cost $19.99 as a standalone.
  • Those who own Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition from PSN can upgrade for $4.99 for up to a year after release. Mojang are working with Sony to provide disc version upgrade support, as well. Stay tuned!
  • Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition saves can be imported to PS4, but not the other way around due to hardware limitations.

Minecraft On PS Vita

  • Officially recognized as the Minecraft: PlayStation 3 + Vita Edition.
  • Includes all the features from the most recent PS3 update.
  • Those who own Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition from PSN can upgrade for free. Mojang are working with Sony to provide disc version upgrade support, as well. Stay tuned!
  • Standalone costs $19.99.
  • Is a Cross-buy, meaning you own both versions of the game.
  • Saves are transferrable between the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of Minecraft.
  • All of the DLC purchased for Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition will work on PlayStation 3 + Vita Edition.
