Amy Hennig Joins Visceral Games, Overseeing Star Wars Project

This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of disappointments, and will soon see the beginning of promising Star Wars games. EA has announced that Amy Hennig will be joining their development studio at Visceral Games. She will be taking on the role of Creative Director for their upcoming Star Wars project game.

Visceral Games vice-president Steve Papoutsis:

"As both a colleague and friend, I’ve always admired (Amy’s) approach to creative development – focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player.  This fits in perfectly with what we’re trying to do here at Visceral and Amy’s going to help us continue in our pursuit to make the most thrilling, immersive games in the world."

As the creative lead for the Uncharted series leading up to Uncharted 4, this is an excellent move on EA’s part. The development studios they own now have created excellent Star Wars games in the past (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic by BioWare), but have since created disappointing titles as of late (Star Wars: The Old Republic by BioWare). Now that EA has an Amy Hennig-led Star Wars project at Visceral, a Star Wars: Battlefront title developed by EA DICE (more promising before creating Battlefield 4) and an unknown Star Wars title being at least partially developed by EA Canada, the future of Star Wars games have never been brighter.
