Report: Far Cry 4 To Be Announced At E3 2014

8th-generation-only games are want new console owners would like to see. Cross-generational games don’t have the same visual fidelity of those targetting the newest technologies only. That’s why it is a relief to hear a report from GameSpot indicating that Far Cry 4 will be announced at E3 2014 in June. The reported release date window would be in the first half of 2015.

Instead of balmy beaches, Far Cry 4 looks to take place in the frigid Himalayas. Hunting will still be key to the upcoming title, with also a hint that players can ride elephants.

Early next year seems to be the sweet spot for game developers on the Xbox One and PS4. That is when you can expect an install base in the low tens of millions (excluding PC’s), development knowledge of the consoles to be much more advanced than for those with launch titles and are able to better utilize the hardware for each device in terms of physics, AI and graphics. The particle effects of snow should be a welcome treat, if pulled off to amaze.

We’ll be on the lookout for more Far Cry 4 information as it happens.
