Watch Dogs Is 1080p on PS4, 960p on Xbox One

As with every new next-gen release, one of the first questions fans have is what the game’s resolution will be on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Watch Dogs isn’t immune to this, sometimes pointless, question as fans immediately began wondering what it will look like on consoles.

According to a report from The Arab Gamer, the PS4 version will have better resolution than the Xbox One. That being said, the PC version of Watch Dogs will be the dominant one in terms of visuals after Ubisoft partnered up with Nvidia to help with the development. The report states that the Xbox One version will run at 960p/30fps, the PS4 version will run at 1080p/30fps and the PC version will have resolutions up to 4K with a variety of frame rates depending on your build.

I guess I just don’t understand what the big deal about it being 1080p.. Can someone explain this to me? Are we really going to be able to tell the difference between 960 and 1080??

    • 757Raiderfan

No not really and the frame rate will probably be a little better on the Xbox because of that

With good AA 960p will look identical to 1080p. You won’t see the big graphical differences you saw in earlier titles like COD Ghosts which ran at 1080p on PS4 and 720p on Xbox One. or Tomb Raider which was 60 fps on PS4 and 30 fps on XB1. It’s also confirmed Wolfenstein will run at 1080p 60 fps on both platforms, so while the PS4 is stronger, the gap will get smaller as developers get more comfortable with the hardware of the XB1.

I played the Titanfall beta and it was running at 962p. I couldn’t tell the difference between that and 1080p. Do you think with the new announcement of directX that it might bridge that gap even further?

        • zainfazal3000

The Titanfall beta on Xbox One was 792p actually and the developers are aiming to get it to 900p before launch. The gap between PS4 and XB1 will be there but when developers will make it smaller with direct x tiled resources and better understanding of how to code ES ram properly. Which they are already doing since everyone was almost certain Watch Dogs would be 720p on Xbox One.

Oops. Thanks for the correction. I did mean to say 762. I believe that the full version is going to be running at 960. I guess I’m just tired of hearing that all the PS4 games are better because it’s running at 1080
