Dark Souls II PC Requirements Revealed

facebooktwitterreddit

We heard just yesterday that the PC version of Dark Souls II was coming roughly 6 weeks after the console release, and now Namco Bandai has provided more information about just what is required to run it. The Namco Bandai store page has revealed the Dark Souls II PC requirements to play, electing to allow for a wider PC gaming audience over making a graphical powerhouse.

Minimum:
OS: Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8
Processor: AMD® Phenom II™ X2 555 3.2Ghz or Intel® Pentium Core ™ 2 Duo E8500 3.17Ghz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600GT, ATI Radeon™ HD 5870
Hard Drive: 8 GB available space
Sound Card: Compatible with DirectX 9.0c or higher
Network: Internet connection required for online play and product activation

Recommended:
OS: Windows 7 SP1
Processor: Intel® CoreTM i3 2100 3.10GHz or AMD® A8 3870K 3.0GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 465 or higher, ATI Radeon™ HD 6870 or higher
Hard Drive: 8 GB available space
Sound Card: Compatible with DirectX 9.0c or higher
Network: Internet connection required for online play and product Activation

That’s right, the recommended processor is a second generation i3 Intel Core processor, with only 8 GB of hard drive space required and an ATI Radeon 6870 to run the graphics off of (?). The least impressive thing about the Souls series has been its visual fidelity, but for the Dark Souls II PC requirements to be not as demanding as other modern games points more to From Software electing to stick with PS3 and Xbox 360 limitations. You can expect modders (Durante, please!) to modify the game on launch day to work much better, if history serves true.

Dark Souls II comes out on the PC on April 25th, with the PS3 and Xbox 360 version coming out on March 11th. Praise the sun!
