Watch Dogs Release Date Confirmed

Correction: The Wii U version of Watch Dogs will be delayed until a later date than the other versions. We regret the error.

Original: Ubisoft has confirmed the release date of their long-delayed upcoming hacker game, Watch Dogs, on Twitter. The Watch Dogs release date is now headed for May 27th, 2014.

Currently, the game is still slated for initial release on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3, albeit with many caveats. There were initial rumors after games retailers in Italy and in the United States had no longer available any preorders for the Wii U version of the game that the Wii U version was being cancelled. It ended up being an error in the system, which was corrected within a few days. However, it was scary at the time for Wii U owners to think that perhaps Ubisoft was no longer supporting the console. The fact that the Wii U version has been delayed (according to Ubisoft PR) to a later date just adds more to the intrigue.

It has become the spectacle of the past two E3 conferences, and hopefully with the Watch Dogs release date being so close to E3 2014 we won’t see it appear again. The Last of Us had made an appearance at last year’s E3, despite already being released on PS3 consoles at the time.

Regardless, Watch Dogs will finally be playable when it comes out on May 27th, 2014. You can check it out on almost every home console imaginable, still hoping to make up for lost time and lost funds with a larger install base on the next-gen consoles. Check out the story trailer below.
