Mojang, Warner Bros. Working On Minecraft Movie

A Minecraft movie could be coming to a theater near you.

According to the game’s creator himself, Minecraft developer Mojang and Warner Bros. are currently in discussions about a potential feature film about the wildly successful open world sandbox game. 

Someone is trying leak the fact that we’re working with Warner Brothers on a potential Minecraft Movie. I wanted to be the leak,” Markus “Notch” Persson said on Twitter. 

The creation of the movie is not yet a done deal, but the fact that it’s being discussed should make fans of the game excited about the possibilities. In a statement released to Polygon, Persson said that his reveal of the movie talks was done in order to try to stop it from getting out elsewhere first.

“It’s for real. I think every part of that tweet was real, including me wanting to be the one to spill the news about a potential movie,” said Persson.
