A new Thief game is coming out for the first time in almost a decade. Things have changed since the last title in the game’s series, and Square Enix has released a feature trailer illustrating exactly what our protagonist can do for fans new and old.
The game places you in a semi-Victorian-era metropolis referred to as the City. After losing your protege, Erin, you regain consciousness as the most wanted man, being hunted by the City guards. The ultimate goal is to steal as much treasure as you can, using the variety of weapons and tools at your disposal.
Just like Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the way you play is up to you. You can play through the entirety of Thief without ever killing a guard. Your iconic bow can be used more as a tool than a weapon, shooting down ladders and platforms while dousing fires to create more shadows. You can also defeat the purpose of the stealth genre and use your bow as a weapon, taking out combatants with lethal force and to manipulate your surroundings to kill watchmen.
Thief will be released on February 25th for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Check out the feature length trailer below for further explanation.
