Update: Is Watch Dogs Coming To Wii U?

facebooktwitterreddit

For the past few weeks there have been plenty of rumors surrounding the future of Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs, and whether or not the game was coming to Wii U. There were reports that pre-orders for the game were being cancelled and no longer offered in the United States, but then Ubisoft came out and stated the game’s release for the console was still planned.

However, at Nintendo’s investor briefing last week, the company release a list of first and third-party games confirmed for a 2014 release on the Wii U with Watch Dogs not on the list whatsoever. This led to even more rumor and speculation that the game was either delayed again for the console, or it was just flat out cancelled.

Gamesided reached out to both Nintendo and Ubisoft for comment on the matter, and we finally heard back from the companies.

Nintendo informed us that all inquires on this matter should go directly to Ubisoft which is what we did. An Ubisoft representative then responded to us with the following:

"Ubisoft has no comment on this matter at this time."

A “no comment” on the future of Watch Dogs on the Wii U will only lead to more speculation about the game’s future, and whether or not it has been delayed or cancelled. An official release date for the game has yet to be announced, but it’s still planned for a Q2 release this year. It seems as though then, and only then, will we finally find out for certain whether or not Watch Dogs is coming to Wii U.
