Treyarch recently took to their official YouTube Channel to unveil a video entitled “Origins”, which has been announced to be the zombie map in the upcoming Apocalypse DLC.

Expected to drop on August 27 and to be the final add-on for Black Ops 2, Apocalypse will feature four new multiplayer maps (Pod, Frost, Takeoff, and Dig) in addition to the new zombie story.

In the video, the tag line “Every story has a beginning…and an end” is used. It ties in nicely with the fact that the video features familiar characters from the first ever Call of Duty zombie mode. The climax of the video includes footage of a giant robot attempting to stomp down on a poor unsuspecting soul.

With Treyarch’s game seeing the tail end of its lifespan before a new CoD game hits the shelves, some fans were wondering if Apocalypse would be a zombie exclusive DLC. With Treyarch having released an all-zombie DLC for the original Black Ops, it wasn’t out of the realm of possibilities.

The next instalment of the franchise, Call of Duty: Ghosts will be handled by Infinity Ward (and by Treyarch for Wii conversion), and is expected to release on November 5 worldwide with the exception of Japan (November 13).
