Microsoft Fumbles On Xbox One Messaging – Again

Microsoft just can’t stick to one story about the Xbox One. It’s a trend that has been going on since its announcement on May 21, and it continues today.

We were seemingly set to report on a distributor’s rumor posted by Electronic Theatre that Microsoft was to include a wired headset into their Xbox One package to ship internationally. It would have been a step in the right direction to match the PlayStation 4’s box-included wired headset. Instead, just moments before posting ourselves, the Official Xbox Magazine’s Twitter account had something else entirely to say on the matter.

“As far as he knows” is the key thing to take away from this message. It was not that long ago that the Official Xbox Magazine posted than Assassin’s Creed II and Halo 3 were set for July’s “Games with Gold” program, only to be incorrect with the announcement of free “Defense Grid: The Awakening” from July 1-15 instead. It’s entirely possible that the headset will be confirmed to ship at launch later today, or tomorrow, or next week, or next month; we just don’t know for sure. It’s on Microsoft to set the story straight.
