The Secret World Celebrates First Anniversary

You know the best part of an MMORPG having a birthday? You get the presents.

It hasn’t always been a smooth ride for “The Secret World,” but Funcom’s horror/conspiracy game has made it to its first anniversary. And even though it’s a title that prides itself on the ways it stands out from other games in its genre, it’s following convention as it celebrates turning one by giving some goodies to the players.

From the morning of July 3 until the morning of July 8, everyone who logs in will receive a free flare gun, while Members and Grandmasters will also be able to claim a special t-shirt with the number ‘1’ on it. The in-game item store will have everything (except membership and packs) marked down 30 percent for your shopping pleasure as well.

Each day during the celebration will feature a special bonus of some sort, like double skill points, double ability points or double XP, so there won’t be a better time to level up. Last but certainly not least, the giant monsters called the Guardians of Gaia will be appearing all across the game world, and with the Jaegers from “Pacific Rim” nowhere in sight, it will be up to characters of all levels to band together to take them down.

I mean, you can buy “The Secret World” a gift too, but all that the game is requesting is your presence. Have fun at the party, and save me some cake.
