Smash Bros Direct: 8 Players Can Play At Once

In today’s Smash Bros 50 Fact Extravaganza, Nintendo heard the fans’ requests and answered in a big way. For example, sometimes when you have more than 3 other friends around with you, 4-player competitive mode just isn’t enough, leaving some left out. That’s why Super Smash Bros for Wii U will allow not just 5 players, not just 6 players, but a whopping 8-player offline multiplayer mode!

Because some of the maps like Battlefield are too small to feature 8-player Super Smash Bros combat at once, Nintendo is offering the opportunity on a select number of stages to upgrade their sizes. That means Battlefield would be extended to roughly double its size to accommodate all that bonus fighting action.
