Mario Kart 8 DLC Kart ‘The Master Cycle’ Teased

While the above picture may look like fan art to some, to Nintendo it is concept art for what they are calling the “Master Cycle.” It is a brand new motorbike that is coming to Mario Kart 8 when their first slew of DLC characters and Karts becomes available this November. So much has been confirmed by Nintendo of America themselves on Twitter.

Epona-related horsepower jokes aside, I’m not sure how the Master Shield being so close to the side of the bike would have a positive effect on turning. I mean, wouldn’t it be scrapping against the course on right-hand turns? Logistics aside (this is, of course, a Nintendo game we’re talking about), the Master Cycle does its job by looking aesthetically pleasing, while promoting the upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC.

What we’ve yet to really see yet are what some of the new courses look like. With 8 new tracks, including some based on locales within the characters’ gaming universes, I’d love to see what a Hylian race track would look like. What game would such a track be based off of? Would Nintendo develop an amalgamation of several Zelda games, or perhaps even hint at the new upcoming Zelda game for the Wii U? These are the types of questions I’d like to see answered soon.

Mario Kart 8 DLC pack #1 drops in November, while the second pack that includes Animal Crossing characters drops in May 2015. The game itself is exclusively available for the Wii U.
