In a true Oprah moment where you get a demo, you get a demo, everyone gets a demo, Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS will receive a downloadable demo, Nintendo has revealed in a press release. The surprise being, for Club Nintendo members that achieved Platinum status between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014, plus have registered 3DS hardware or software, the demo is available today!

More from 3DS

That’s right, these select members have access to Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS right now, as well as three other downloadable codes that they can share with their friends who are on the outside looking in. There’s no time limit, although you are limited to 5 characters: Mario, Link, Pikachu, Villager and Mega Man. Also, you only have the Battlefield map and local multiplayer, as well as fighting against computer opponents, and must redeem the code before September 19th. The demo becomes available to all starting that very day, although this version is limited to being opened only 30 times. Plus, pop-up kiosks for the game will appear at select retailers starting September 18th.

While I wasn’t as impressed with the 3DS version as I was with the Wii U version in my short first impressions playing Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS, you should absolutely try it out for free for yourself to see if the arcade fighting game holds up on handhelds.
