Resident Evil Revelations 2 Trailer Shows How It Starts

If I told you that Capcom were releasing a Resident Evil game for current and last-gen platforms that saw Claire Redfield start out in a prison, a good number of you would ask, “Why are they remaking Resident Evil: Code Veronica?” As it turns out, what they’re doing instead is creating a sequel of their Nintendo 3DS offshoot series and putting it out on consoles and PC, as Resident Evil Revelations 2 receives its first trailer detailing the game’s story beginnings.

More from News

The trailer starts off with Claire Redfield at a swanky party that has a strict biker-jacket-free dress code. It’s for a welcome party for Terra Save, an anti-bioterrorism organization that she now works for, that also has Barry Burton’s daughter, Moira Burton, in attendance. Unfortunately, they are both captured by an unknown infiltration SWAT-like team (Umbrella? Hunk?), injected with an unknown substance and woken up in a seemingly-abandoned prison. They are not alone, as friend and several zombie foes are wandering about the dishevelled hell scape that hosts the Resident Evil universe’s most accomplished zombie killer.

The Resident Evil Revelations 2 trailer seems to include mostly computer-generated visuals, however near the 55-second mark there does seem to be pop-ins of in-progress visuals, with a camera following Claire as she brands a pistol with a knife holstered near her back pocket. With the game released next year, the goal is to at least maintain interest in this new entry in addition to the Resident Evil HD remaster that is also coming to consoles and PC next year. If you wanted a fully-realized gameplay video, you’ll just have to wait.

Furthermore, Capcom explains in a press release that Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released as “weekly” episodic content over a span of 4 episodes. Each episode will cost $5.99, a full season (plus additional content to be explained in the future) will retail at $24.99 and a packaged box with additional content will be released at $39.99.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will come to PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 early next year.
