MGS 5: The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes Headed To Steam

facebooktwitterreddit

First it was Konami Japan that was dropping the ball about MGS 5’s The Phantom Pain by releasing the E3 2014 trailer early. Now it appears at though Konami Europe has been subsequently handed the ball, in order for them to drop it early, hopefully not on purpose. The following link, which produces an error page, comes from the Konami Europe front page, with the title, “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes Coming To Steam.” It’s even written in the url.

More from News

With the Konami Twitch channel just about to go live for an hour with streamed gameplay of The Phantom Pain, it’s evident that Konami did not want this news to become public until after Hideo Kojima revealed it himself. The Rusemaster has been on quite a tear, as of late, being part of the P.T. PS4 interactive teaser that turned out to be Silent Hills starring Norman Reedus with involvement from Guillermo Del Toro. Revealing a PC edition of both Ground Zeroes and the upcoming Phantom Pain early underscores the excellence of the announcement and the element of surprise, which is the very opposite of Kojima’s nature.

What’s left to surprise us with? Now that we know a PC version of MGS V’s games are coming, perhaps we could get a non-“1984” release date? Revelations about the story? Keifer Sutherland is playing Big Boss, while Solid Snake is also included somewhere in the game, with David Hayter providing the voice? In the world of Metal Gear Solid, nobody can be for certain. I mean, Raiden took over most of the game for Metal Gear Solid 2, and I’m sure there’s nobody out there that saw that coming!

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360, with an expected official announcement of the PC Steam version coming later today.
