Evolve Release Date Pushed Back Beyond October

My guess is that the executives at big publishing companies have been thinking, “Wow, pre-empting Call of Duty by releasing our newest game in October was such a great idea that 20+ others have done the same thing! Now, based on sheer competition, we’re screwed unless we delay the game’s release.” At least that’s what I think what was going through the heads of those in charge of Take-Two Interactive, as they have revealed during their quarterly earnings report that Evolve will push back its initial October 21st release date. It will now be released on February 10th, 2015.

It’s just one of several games that have seen their October release date shifted a bit. Battlefield Hardline is also coming out in Early 2015, Dragon Age: Inquisition was pushed back just one month to November, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Evolve is not the last game to be released at a later-than-previously-scheduled date. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is the only game to have its release date bumped up and pushed earlier than the month of October entirely, so far.

Still, with little of Evolve actually seen outside of E3 2014, earlier preview videos and gameplay multiplayer tournaments, it may be the smart move to delay the game. Even though they will be skipping out on Black Friday and holiday sales, right now the competition in February is a lighter and non-competitive, genre-wise, than releases like The Witcher 3. Plus, it’s better to take the time to develop a game than ship a broken one!

Evolve will now be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 10th, 2015.
