Newest Yakuza Game Being Announced In Coming Weeks

Well, at the very least famed Japanese games series will have more titles heading to the PS4. As Gematsu reports, SEGA will be announcing a new Yakuza game that will be coming to the PS4 and PS3. Unlike the recently-locally-released Yakuza: Ishin, this newest entry won’t be a spin-off. The announcement will come on August 24th at 9 PM Japanese Standard Time.

And with this announcement comes the inevitable disappointment when Sega doesn’t bring the new Yakuza game over to the West with localization due to poor sales. I mean, I understand where they’re coming from, especially when it comes to ginormous open world games with a very Japan-centric feel, cultural build and sensibility. Translating all of the little dialogues, signage and making it easier to understand things like Pachinko can be quite expensive.

If you’ve only heard of Yakuza by name and haven’t gotten a sense for what it’s like, make sure to watch a Let’s Play of Yakuza 4. If you like it, pick it up, enjoy it, then help petition to get Sega to localize Yakuza 5 for North America. We can’t miss out on two of the series’ games in a row!
