Ubisoft Confirms Beyond Good & Evil 2 Still Exists

Aside from a new look for protagonist Jade several months ago, we haven’t heard much on any progress on Beyond Good & Evil 2. It no-showed at E3, leading to speculation of it being vaporware. But hot on the heels of yesterday’s news of Michael Ancel, founding his own indie studio, but remaining at Ubisoft comes confirmation that Ancel is in fact leading the creative development of what Ubisoft termed a “proverbial sequel” to Beyond Good & Evil.

Ubisoft also sent out a press statement about Beyond Good & Evil 2, but it didn’t reveal much:

"“In many ways, BG&E is an inimitable game – it appeals to all generations of gamers and is an inspiration behind many of Ubisoft Montpellier’s past and future games. It’s still far too early to give many details about this new title, but what we can say is that while Michel and the team at Ubisoft Montpellier are working with the core tenets of BG&E, they’re developing something that aspires to push past the boundaries of a proverbial sequel and leverages next-gen technologies to deliver a truly surprising, innovative and exceptional game. The entire team is excited about the direction this extremely ambitious project is taking, and we’ll have more to share later, as it progresses.”"

Frankly as long as we get Beyond Good & Evil 2 sometime this generation, I’ll be pretty happy. Let Ancel take his time and make a masterpiece like he usually does.
