facebooktwitterreddit

A new edition of Street Fighter, a brand new champion! Finishing off a day of continuous Evo 2014 Finals play, Louffy has won the Ultra Street Fighter IV grand finals. He becomes the first European player to ever win it all at this tournament in Street Fighter play, and Rose becomes the first female character to ever win the tournament, as well.

Solidifying himself as this year’s best out of 1,978 other competitors, including Grand Finals opponent Bonchan, we saw more than 128,300 peak concurrent viewers witness the grand finale of Evo 2014 that concluded in a 3-1 bracket-resetting Match #1 and a 3-1 finisher. He will leave today’s stacked Top 8 Finals with over $17,800 in earnings, with $10,000 added to the entire pot thanks to Capcom.

Again, the way that the Ultra Street Fighter IV grand finals shaped up was a huge part of the story of Evo 2014. Daigo, Infiltration, Xian, PRBalrog, Mike Ross, Tokido, Valle, Filipino Champ, Smug, ChrisG, Nuki, Kazunoko, Haitani, Ryan Hart and Justin Wong all failed to reach the Top 8 Finals. Snake Eyez used Zangief against Ricky Ortiz’s Rufus in a straight 3-0 win, where Zangief had no business winning that cleanly, forcing one American to knock out the other. Louffy sends Snake Eyez home in 4th to keep Europe’s hopes alive. A Rose player in the Top 8, let alone taking it all! Ultra Street Fighter IV brought the best in Evo 2014 excitement and unpredictability, and that’s exactly what the tournament is all about.

The full final results of Ultra Street Fighter IV play at Evo 2014 are listed below:

  1. Louffy ($17,874)
