During Ubisoft’s press conference, the newest Rainbow Six title, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, was announced as the secret finale to cap off the Ubisoft. The focus of the reveal was on multiplayer Alpha, showing strategic team-based tactics within one house map, utilizing a focus on planning rather than simple gunning.

Team Rogue faced off in Team Raven during the Rainbow Six Siege gameplay demo, in which the Rainbow Six crew of 5 players had to recover the hostages from the competing terrorists. Because they’re going into uncharted territory, they get the advantage by using surveillance techniques to get a general layout of the map.

Finally, when the match begins, it’s controlled chaos. The good guys got the majority of the attention, as you get to see the terrorists repel you back and ultimately get one of your hostages killed. A major aspect of what Rainbow Six Siege seems to be about is destructibility of the environment, but to the unnecessary extreme, as a couple of bullets somehow destroy load-bearing walls and decimating doors. Either way, it’s the first game in the Rainbow Six series in about 6 years, so celebrate that!

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will be coming out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Let’s hope the AI, graphics and gameplay hold up before it comes out! (Release date TBA)
