Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Microsoft kicked off their Xbox: Game On media briefing with a first look at Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare gameplay. Xbox head Phil Spencer made it clear on stage that Xbox One will be getting all of the add-on content first, continuing the trend that has been ongoing since the Xbox 360 days.

It looked to be a simple CG trailer showing a mission called “Induction” and its opening cinematics, but it turns out the video shown is actual Advanced Warfare gameplay footage. Phil Spencer implied that this footage was running on the Xbox One, and hopefully that remains to be the case. It looks to be a lot more visually enhanced than a lot of what we’ve seen on the Xbox One.

The trailer featured a lot of futuristic weapons, making a very apparent departure in gameplay styles while keeping the core of Call of Duty gameplay at heart. Flying drones, smart grenades, exoskeletons; there is a lot to digest that we haven’t seen before. Even though some of the same cinematic elements remain.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released this November 4th for the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
