Baseball, at its core, is all about the numbers. On base percentage, ERA, WHIP, wins; they all add up to tell the ups and downs of all 30 Major League Baseball teams and their minor league affiliates. That’s why Sony felt the need to share some of its stats for the recently-released MLB 14: The Show on the PlayStation Blog, in which they declare their newest title the, “Fastest-selling game in franchise history.”

Not only has the PS4 edition of MLB 14: The Show broken the records for most preorders, most day-one sales, and most week one sales within the franchise, but the game has sold 40% more week-one sales than MLB 13 did. The addition of an entirely-new console in the PS4 certainly helped in that regard.

Furthermore, Sony released some fun facts about the players and how they play the game. For example, the Baltimore Orioles are the most popular team to play, and Yankee Stadium has seen the most total games played. With 10 million games played, 200,000 Road to the Show careers started and more than 5 million hits, MLB 14: The Show seems to have benefited from being one of the premium PlayStation exclusives early on in the PS4’s life cycle.

You can pick up MLB 14: The Show now on the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.
