Telltale’s Game Of Thrones Receives Authentic Story Consultant

Whenever a respected novel is being adapted into another form of media, there is a legitimate concern amongst fans about whether the new media will be authentic, captivating and entertaining. Telltale Games hopes to impress in this regard, as The New York Times reports that Telltale Games has brought in Martin’s personal assistant and science fiction author Ty Corey Franck to come on as a story consultant for the game.

Knowing just how important the Game of Thrones series is for Telltale Games, the hope is that they stay cautious in their development. With the game series likely diverting (if not in part, than in whole) from the novels in order to tell a story that can use choice and morality without fear of going against Martin’s story as a player, Franck will have to serve as the knowledge base as to avoid canonical conflict.

Game of Thrones, as developed by Telltale Games, is currently slated for a 2014 release. Hopefully more information will be released in the coming months, if not at E3 2014.
