Summer Games Done Quick 2014 Schedule Is Live

As another summer approaches, Speed Demos Archive prepares for yet another speedrunning marathon charity event. That’s right, Summer Games Done Quick 2014 will launch starting June 22nd, and the event organizers have just released their games schedule. The list is complete with runners, estimated start times, estimated run times and any extra details about the run (Tool-assisted run, co-op, competitive race, etc.). The estimated total run time is slated until June 29th.

For those who are unfamiliar, Games Done Quick holds two speedrunning events each year for the past few years in the name of charity. Earlier this year in January, Speed Demos Archive ran Awesome Games Done Quick 2014, raising over $1 million in the name of the Prevent Cancer Foundation. The summer event has typically raised funds in the name of Doctors Without Borders, with Summer Games Done Quick 2014 following that same tradition.

Trust me when I say that speedrun events are pretty fun to watch. Not only do runners enjoy contemporary and classic games alike, but provide viewers with insight into things they could never imagine possible through normal play. I’m personally excited to see Super Mario 3D World, Resident Evil 2, Castlevania 64, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Star Wars: Dark Forces 2 and Final Fantasy VI and learn how they can be broken in the name of speed and charity during the course of the week.

You should bookmark the event’s schedule page here if you want to keep up to date with the order of the speedruns, as well as learn more information about the event.
