Even though we don’t have an official title or release date, newest Call of Duty developer Sledgehammer Games has revealed their first image to come out of their upcoming entry into the popular FPS series. According to IGN, the image was first shown during this year’s Game Developer Conference, and has now become available for general public viewing via IGN. The closeup includes, “Actual in-game characters,” which may or may not showcase the main playable cast.

Moving to a three-year development cycle between three different developers might allow for a better creative influence for each title. Annualizing a shooter such as Call of Duty doesn’t make sense from a gameplay standpoint, especially with minimal changes made in competitive balancing dynamics. However, if Activision is to keep milking that cash cow until it is dry, it’s better to have three outlooks that try something different within their wheelhouses than to have just one try something new.
