Fatal Frame Entry Coming To Nintendo Wii U

Although a release date or title hasn’t been announced, according to Famitsu (translated by Gematsu), Nintendo and Tecmo Koei will be coming together to create a new entry within the Fatal Frame series, heading for the Nintendo Wii U. It appears it’s not just video games that will get the Fatal Frame treatment, as a comic book, live-action film and an original novel are all currently in the works. The hope for horror suspense gaming fans in North America is to see this newest Fatal Frame game come to the Wii U in oversea markets, as well.

Nintendo’s recent consoles have provided unique gameplay mechanics to be inserted in horror games. Ju-on -The Grudge involved motion sensor detection within the Wiimote in order to determine how frightened you reacted to the game based on spastic, reactionary movements made by your honest reactions to the game. The possibilities of new ways of gameplay immersion only increase with the Wii U’s Gamepad, as it could potentially work as a camera within the game’s universe. Imagine what horrors can be created if images between the Gamepad and the TV showed ghastly abominations!

We will be on the lookout for more information about this project as it becomes available.
