PAX South Coming To San Antonio January 2015

One of the things I’ve learned from talking to people on the floor at PAX East is that if they’ve come a long way to be here in Boston, they wish there was a PAX show closer to home. So far that’s been true only for people who live within range of here, Seattle (home of PAX Prime) or Melbourne, Australia (I’ll let you guess what that one’s called!).

Now you can add Texas to the list of regions that will host their own slice of the PAX experience. The first PAX South will be held in San Antonio at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center from January 23rd to 25th. The announcement was made earlier today during a Penny Arcade panel.

Interestingly, Penny Arcade president Robert Khoo said in a subsequent press release that a PAX South “has always been a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if.'” Now if they can just get cracking on a PAX Midwest like our own Eric Chrisman has been trying to will into existence, just about all parts of the U.S. would have a show to call their own. And for all my friends north of the border, how about a PAX Canada?

I guess we can keep hoping, but if the shows continue to pack people in, there’s no telling how many different places could host one.
