Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast Receiving HD Fan Mod

facebooktwitterreddit

Because LucasArts is no more, it’s up to the fans to make the older Star Wars games they love and adore come back screaming into the HD era. So is the case with one adventurous modder who has been single-handedly working on recreating every texture and model in HD form for Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast.

Just one person can’t handle a project of this magnitude, so “JDB Artist” (the modder) is looking for fans of Jedi Outcast to start taking screenshots all over the game to see if their HD textures and models are doing the game any justice. The mod for Jedi Outcast has been in development since at least in May 2013 judging by the modder’s forum post on a game mod enthusiast board, meaning that the HD upgrade isn’t ready for near immediate release.

That doesn’t mean that this isn’t cause for excitement. As a fan of Star Wars games from LucasArts pre-2006, it would be great news for fans to see some of the great games of the 90’s and 2000’s in HD glory. Even getting Star Wars Rogue Squadron to work on modern PC’s is a hassle, so if Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast can see the HD light of day, it would do wonders for getting newcomers interested in the expanded Star Wars mythos.

You can follow @JDBArtist on Twitter to keep up with the progression of this mod at time goes on.
