Walmart Announces Exclusive Batmobile Skin With Arkham Knight

What better way to start of my tenure at Gamesided! As a huge Batman: Arkham fan, I was delighted to see Arkham Knight announced so soon with Arkham Origins still yet to release their story DLC.

The Arkham Series has no shortage of exclusives ranging from console-related exclusives and, more prominently, pre-order based exclusives.

While it was announced in the Reveal Trailer that you can play in 4 challenge maps as Harley Quinn, Walmart released another exclusive with the game.

A Batmobile skin. Yes, that’s right. A Batmobile skin.

The Prototype Batmobile skin may look bland to some but that’s the point. It’ll be interesting to see how the Batmobile will look on the streets in a less-detailed version.

Walmart’s offical description:

"Bonus: Preorder now and receive the Wal-Mart exclusive prototype Batmobile in-game. It’s uniquely designed and includes exclusive gameplay features. Also play as Harley Quinn and get 4 exclusive challenge maps, utilize her unique weapons, gadgets, and abilities."

This is the first of what is sure to be a plethora of exclusive skins and DLC packs that will be exclusively announced with certain stores. Gamestop and Best Buy always show up to the party in grand fashion so it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

In the past, Gamestop has included the Black Mask Challenge Maps for Arkham Origins (among other things) while Best Buy had included the Robin Challenge Pack DLC that was released at a later date for Arkham City.

Gamestop had the extremely enticing Joker’s Carnival Challenge Map as an exclusive for Arkham City as well as the Animated Series Batman Skin for PowerUp Rewards Members. Both of these were released at a later date.

The only console-exclusive content in the series was the enjoyable Play As The Joker add-on for Arkham Asylum and the extremely disappointing Knightfall Challenge Maps for Arkham Origins. Both were released exclusively for the PS3.

While I love to see a lot of variation in the content that you can use, I am hoping that all of the content will be released sometime after launch. While I lucked out with the PS3 exclusives, I would hate to be on the other end of that as an Xbox user.

Batman: Arkham Knight is set to release on October 14, 2014 for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
