The launch of the PlayStation 4 in Japan last weekend was a much larger success than the launch of the PS3 in the country seven years ago. According to a report by Famitsu (translation required), the PS4 sold 322,083 consoles in its opening weekend.

This is up from the 88k the PS3 moved during it’s launch. The number still doesn’t come close to the reported 630,552 PS2 systems sold during its launch weekend in the country 14 years ago.
