We are less than a month away from the release of the HD Remaster of Final Fantasy X and X-2, and Square Enix really wants to drive home just how new and improved these games are with a new features trailer. It highlights just exactly what’s new in the re-released version of what may be one of the greatest Final Fantasy games in history.
If you haven’t followed our coverage of Final Fantasy X here at GameSided but are interested in the new HD Remaster’s development; this is the one post you need to see. The resolution has been increased, the visual fidelity of characters, textures and assets is improved and the soundtrack has been re-arranged. If you’re looking to get both the PS3 and PS Vita version of the game, cross-save support has been implemented, as well as a trophy list that includes the likes of avoiding lightning strikes 200 times in a row (lord, have mercy).
One addition to Final Fantasy X hurt the fan in me, a bit. They have added an audio drama with concept art, which has some fans up in arms about the future of the 2-part series. To make up for it, they have improved the Sphere Grid, included Dark Aeons and the Eternal Calm CG cutscene that transitions us into Final Fantasy X-2. A lot of content has either been improved or added to a North American release for the first time.
Speaking of the sequel, Final Fantasy X-2 includes new dress spheres, a creature creation and tournament system and the Last Mission from the International version on the PS2. Including it with the original, along with some of the original game’s new features continues to drive home the idea that we may not have seen the last of the Final Fantasy X series, for better or for worse.
Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD Remaster will launch in North America on March 18th for the PS3 and PS Vita. Check out the features trailer below.
