It’s been out on PC and PS3 formats, but now we know when we can expect Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on the PS4. On the PlayStation Blog, Square Enix Community Project Manager Hergen Thaens has revealed that we can expect the Final Fantasy MMO to hit Sony’s newest console on April 14th here in North America.

There are some special features exclusive to the PS4 version of Final Fantasy XIV. You can use a PS Vita in conjunction with your PS4 as a remote play device, if that’s your thing. You can also use the DualShock 4 controller’s touch pad to act as a mouse, which will allow for ease of access with menus. As well, you can livestream your gameplay using the share button, or just take screenshots, if you prefer. If you want to keep it traditional, you can also plug in a USB mouse and keyboard and play it like a PC with the PS4 console.

Square also revealed beta information for the PS4 version of Final Fantasy XIV. Phase 1 goes February 22nd to March 3rd, while Phase 2 goes from April 4th to April 7th. Characters will be wiped between phases, but Phase 2 characters can be used in the retail version of the game. Additionally, PS3-version owners can upgrade to the PS4 version for free! Free stuff is always nice.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will hit the PS4 on April 14, and is already available on PC and on PS3. Check out the trailer below, shot using PS4 gameplay footage.
