Showcasing New Wii U Quick-Boot Update

facebooktwitterreddit

During Wednesday night’s investor briefing, Nintendo announced that it was going to improve the speed of the system’s boot time to allow players to jump into games off screen quicker than ever before. Along with that announcement came a video “demonstrating” the improved “quick-boot update”.

According to the video, which you can watch below, players will be able to instantly select their game from the Wii U game pad immediately after pressing the power button. It’s assumed that the disc must, obviously, already be in the game console itself in order to launch the game.

Check it out for yourself below. It’s unclear when exactly Nintendo plans to launch this update to the Wii U.

Mike’s Musings:

Call me crazy, but I’d much rather have my on-screen game load up quicker than my off-screen picture. I get that Nintendo is trying to make the second screen on the game pad a more focal point of the console, but when I load up my living room game console, I want to play it quickly on my TV. That’s just my opinion on the matter.
