Two Fan-made Dark Souls II Shields Get In-Game Screenshots

One of the better ways to get your fanbase more involved with your game is to incorporate some of their designs into your final product. So is the case with Dark Souls II when they announced the community-designed shields that would be usable items in the final product. Today we get to see some of them in action, as the Dark Souls II Facebook page shared some screenshots of the “Rebel’s Greatshield” and the “Wicked Eye Greatshield” within the confines of the game.

Additionally, each shield has been given its own description to fit within the lore of Dark Souls II.

Rebel’s Greatshield:

"Shield of the rebel Raime. Raime and Velstadt were known as the left and right-arms of the king, until their wills clashed, and Raime was deemed a traitor."

Wicked Eye Greatshield:

"A Greatshield with an unsettling design. Covered in the prints of countless hands. The true origin of this shield is unknown. No amount of polishing can clear its face of the mysterious hand prints."

As a fan of the Souls series, it is insanely cool for designer and fellow fan Gabriel Verdon to have his creations immortalized in a video game. You hear that, other RPG developers? Seeing as there are so many different types of equipment, let some of your fans design a select number of your weapons and armor! It generates interest in your game and makes the fans feel appreciated.

Dark Souls II will be coming out in North America on March 11 for PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version will be released shortly after. Check out the gallery of screenshots below. We will also be on the lookout for in-game screenshots of more community-designed shields as they are released.
