I love Sonic and the games have a personal sentimental value to me, but I am drawn more towards replaying Mario games. New Super Mario Bros Wii and Super Mario Galaxy proved Mario still has it, while Sonic’s Secret Rings, and Sonic 4 being nearly a clone of the earlier games show that he’s still running fast, but his charm is running out. And I can’t stand when and how he can sometimes become a Werehog.

wow, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Still love to play the games you listed. Must be hard to narrow the list down. Some other timeless genesis games are Strider, Alisia Dragoon, Castle of Illusion, Forgotten Worlds, Ghouls N’ Ghosts, and Gairies :)

Several of the games on this list are truly some of the best games I have ever played, but one “shining” example is absent: Shining Force 2. The music, the gameplay, the difficulty, all were just right, and made for one of the best games ever made.

  • APrince66

Needs some Ghouls and Ghosts, and one of my all time favorite games from that generation, Phantasy Star II

  • Matthew Collar

Also, what about the shining force series? Shining Force 2 is still one of my all time sega only favs.
