The Sims 4 Delayed Until Fall 2014

Framkin! (Simlish swear word) It appears as though The Sims 4 will be delayed until Fall of next year, according to an EA Games press release. It was previously slated for a Q1 2014 release (up to March 31st), but with today’s announcement of Titanfall being released on March 11, 2014, preference will go to big shooting robots.

"The Sims franchise has the best fans in the world and their passion and enthusiasm is at an all-time high. Those millions of voices will fuel our development process, helping The Sims 4 to be the most ambitious and the best game our studio has ever made. We can’t wait to see our fans reaction when The Sims 4 comes out in fall 2014.-Rachel Franklin, VP and General Manager of The Sims Studio"

There hasn’t been much in terms of general buzz for The Sims 4, with a lack of deliverable content might more have to do with its delay than playing release politics. They did show off new features and playable scenarios at gamescom this year, even if the graphics were less than ideal.

The idea of making The Sims 4 run characters using an “Emotion engine” makes sense, as it will provide more of a focus on the life simulation than the building simulation. Paired with the fact that decorating your home, constructing the layout and creating a unique living space has been streamlined for time and you have the prospect of a Sims game that gives you more gameplay options than ever before. It will be interesting to see what the developers can add with their added development time.

The Sims 4 will be released in the Fall of 2014 for the PC and Mac OS X.
