Boy, did the Pirates get blown out in this one! The two hits total belonged to Neil Walker and Justin Morneau, with the rest of the team 0-2, 0-3 or 0-4. A.J. Burnett didn’t fare much better, either, lasting 4 innings and giving up 3 ER, 6 hits, 4 walks and 4 K’s.

The Cardinals had a great offense throughout, with everyone except for St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright getting at least one hit. Offensive MVP for Game 1 goes to David Freese, who went 2-4 scoring 2 runs and adding a 3-run HR to top it off. Wainwright was spectacular in his performance, throwing a 2 hit shutout with 10 K’s and 0 walks.
