Sonic The Hedgehog Headed Back To Television In Fall 2014

Sonic the Hedgehog is not only making his way into Wii U gaming consoles (in the form of Sonic Lost World), but returning to television, as well. According to the official SEGA blog, Sonic the Hedgehog will be starring in a CG-animated comedy series titled, “Sonic Boom,” airing on the Cartoon Network starting Fall 2014.

This will be the first CG television program about SEGA’s lead mascot and will be the first animated cartoon about Sonic the Hedgehog since Sonic X ended its first run in the US back in May of 2006. The series is aimed at children aged 6-11, with casting for Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, Knuckles Dr. Eggman and a plethora of old and new enemies for the crew to encounter.

While the show will be for younger fans, hopefully the series creators either stay true to the character of Sonic the Hedgehog. If this new show can capture some of the magic created by “Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog” back in the 90’s in a much richer animation style, then we could be in for quite a treat.

Sonic Boom will be heading to cartoon TV stations worldwide starting in Fall of 2014, hoping that the release of Sonic Lost World on the Wii U this October 29th will tide fans over until then.
