NBA Live 14: Producer Speaks On New Game

When NBA Live 14 was announced earlier this year, it was met with a lot of skepticism. After all, it has been almost four years since an EA Sports basketball title was put on the market, and that last attempted game, NBA Elite 11, failed to even reach production.

To say EA Sports has a lot of questions to answer in regards to its new game is a bit of an understatement.

In an exclusive interview with ReviewFix.com, NBA Live 14 Producer Sean O’Brien spoke about coming back into the market after such a long absence, and competing with the juggernaut that is the NBA 2K franchise.

"“The team has worked tirelessly to create an authentic NBA simulation video game rooted in the sport and lifestyle of basketball,” O’Brien told Patrick Hickey of Review Fix. “It definitely hasn’t been an easy road over the last couple years, and we all (fans and developers) have had enough of the drama. We aren’t done with the game yet, but the E3 and fan response throughout the summer is keeping the team highly motivated and great things are happening every day at the studio.”"

In regards to competing with the NBA 2K franchise, O’Brien said that competing is part of it, but they still have a lot to prove before going for the jugular of 2K Sports.

"“Again, we still have a lot to prove,” he said. “2K has made a great game. There is no argument there. But, we wouldn’t be developing NBA LIVE 14 if we didn’t think we had something new to offer basketball fans. That said, our focus right now is to make a great basketball video game. We aren’t going to sacrifice our vision just to check feature boxes on the back of a package.”"
