For those excited about the new game DVR, Skype integration, and “Smart Match” matchmaking, be ready to pay in order to have access to these features.

Microsoft has confirmed that a Xbox Live Gold subscription will be required in order to take advantage of the new features coming to the company’s next console. These features now join apps like Netflix, online multiplayer, and live NFL broadcasts to be placed beyond the Xbox Live Gold paywall.

Users can purchase a one-year membership to Xbox Live Gold for $60.

One has to wonder if Microsoft will allow it’s consumers to have anything major without having to be a Gold member. The Xbox One will release in November for $500 in the United States, €500 in Europe and £430 in the United Kingdom.
